Giveaway–Barnes and Noble Gift Card
Hi all. Ok, this Mama needs a new book to read! For some reason I have been stuck on the second book in the Outlander series and just can’t get through it. It is time to find something new.
So here is the contest: Leave a comment with a book you have read recently that you enjoyed. That’s it! It doesn’t have to be a book that is award worthy, just one you liked! On Monday 02/22, I will randomly choose one of the comments as a winner and send them a $15 Barnes and Noble gift card to go and buy your own new book to read!
This contest is now closed.

Thanks everyone for your entries!

BTW, I am recommending A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle. I actually picked it up for a second time the other day and remembered why I liked it so much the first time around.
I have been enjoying Feminine Appeal (seven virtues of a Godly wife and mother) by Carolyn Mahaney. I think the fam has been enjoying it too=)!
Ohhh…..”The Elegance of the Hedgehog” by Muriel Barbery is wonderful!!! I also loved “The Lost Symbol” by Dan Brown (read it one day – stayed up all night). I also read “Racing Weight” by Matt Fitzgerald, but I don’t think that’s something you would read for pleasure, unless your a tad sicko.
This is going to sound dumb, but I haven’t been reading lately. I haven’t had the concentration for it. But I can recommend a good movie to get on Netflix: Dirty Filthy Love. It’s not as sexy as it sounds, but it’s powerful. I’ll let you check it out.
Memoirs of an Oregon Moonshiner by ray nelson a short fast read but interesting and local. from the 1920′s to 30′s
Same kind of different as me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore
The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah
Snow flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
That should keep you busy :)
Oh, and we read the latest Chelsea Handler book for bookclub and if you haven’t read those they are quite hysterical.
I loved “Sarah’s Key” by Tatiana de Rosnay. It is a beautiful, yet sad story revolving around the holocaust told through flashbacks as a present day journalist uncovers an old family secret. Check it out!!
Heat, by Bill Buford. It’s about working in a kitchen, food prep, visiting Italy and learning about making pasta from scratch, etc.
I’m also offering a Giveaway.
Ends tonight, Thursday, Midnight.

Just finished HEAR NO EVIL by Matthew Paul Turner…highly recommend it!
The Twilight series. Once you start, you won’t be able to put them down!!!
Awesome series.
Hm…I really love the series by Molly Harper. the first is Nice Girl’s Don’t Have Fangs and yes, it’s vampires (I know people are starting to hate them) but this one is fun and HILARIOUS!!
I recently read The Lies of Locke Lamora and really liked it. Con men and political machinations in fantasy-world Italy.
Or, if you like manga at all, March on Earth is really cute, too. It’s about a teenage girl raising her orphaned nephew on her own.
Thank you for the giveaway!

I agree with Amy – “Sarah’s Key” is wonderful. I read it about 4 months ago and couldn’t put it down.
Just finished “Fragment” by Warren Fahy..it’s a bit along the Jurassic Park theme. What kind of life develops on an island that’s been totally isolated for hundreds of years? What happens when a group of scientists filming a reality television series stumble upon the island? It kept me on the edge of my seat until the end.
I enjoyed How Starbucks Saved My Life, a true story by Michael Gates Gill and soon to be a movie starring Tom Hanks.
I love Julie Kenner’s Demon Hunter series. They’re about a mom of a teenager and a toddler who also hunts demons and has to hide that part of her life from her family. The books are really funny and they’re easy reads, so if you’re interrupted you won’t have to start over. The first one is called Carpe Demon.
